Abstract

Teacher personality competence also correlates with learning motivation at MTS N 2 Merangin. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between teacher personality competence and motivation to learn social science (IPS) class VII students at MTS N 2 Merangin in the 2020 learning year. This study used a quantitative research approach with correlational methods. The population in the study was taken from all seventh grade students at MTS N 2 Merangin, totaling 60 students. The sampling technique uses a total sampling technique. Data collection techniques were taken using a questionnaire of teacher personality competence and learning motivation, carried out in trials at SMP N 14 Sarolangun. Then the data analysis technique uses SSS version 20 with the product moment correlation formula, which is to determine a relationship between teacher personality competence and motivation to learn social knowledge. Then the results of the research can show that the two variables have a positive and significant relationship. between the two independent variants and the dependent variable where the number of r count is 0.401, while the t table with N = 60 at the 05% significance level is 0.254, so r count is greater than t table (0.401> 0.254).
