THE USE OF EDMODO TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ WRITING ABILITY AT ELEVENTH GRADE IN SMA NEGERI 17 MERANGIN ACADEMIC YEAR 2019/2020

Abstract

The problem of this research at the Eleventh Grade of SMA Negeri 17 Merangin caused by low of students’ result in writing ability, low of grammar and vocabulary.While the KKM in learning English is 75 and learning completeness in the class is 75%. Total students’ were reach the KKM only 4 students or 25% students  who be able to reach the KKM and 12 students or 75% students could not reach the KKM. the problem in learning activities especially in writing is that students do not master voccabularry and grammar so they are not interested and are not enthusiastic about writing. The purpose of this research is to improve students writing ability by using Edmodo media. The research conducted in SMA Negeri 17 Merangin that located in Sungai Sahut Village, Tabir Selatan District of Merangin Regency. This research used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) that consist of two cycles, two meeting in each cycle. Based on the result of the test, it showed in  pretest only 4 students’ or 25% reached the KKM and 9 students or 56,25% reached KKM in cycle I. In the cycle II, 13 students’ or 81,25% reached the KKM. The classical completeness of this schooll is 75% so that means, this research is complete and it can be concluded that teaching by using edmodo media can improve students' writing ability at eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 17 Merangin academic year 2019/2020.
